Lyric video makers, compared.
Reelyrics vs Rotor, LYRC, CapCut, Kapwing and a freelancer · Checked October 2026
The short version
For one polished lyric video, hire a freelancer ($50–$250 is typical) or edit it yourself in CapCut or Kapwing for free. For lyric videos alongside Spotify Canvas and other release formats, Rotor Videos covers the most ground; if you already have footage, LYRC is built around your clips. For posting short vertical lyric clips every day from one song, Reelyrics is the one that brings its own curated b-roll and picks it for you — about a dollar a clip, no footage hunting.
The b-roll is the hard part.
Every tool here can put words on a video. What separates them is who finds the footage underneath. Most give you a stock library to search, or expect you to bring your own. Reelyrics comes with its own curated b-roll: collections of aesthetic clips and stills with a consistent look, included on every plan. It reads your lyrics' imagery and mood, picks a collection that fits, and matches a clip to each line — so you never browse stock sites or search the internet for footage. You can still upload your own.

| Best for | Artists who want a steady stream of short lyric clips from one release for a fan page. | Artists who want several kinds of release video (lyric, Canvas, Apple Music motion) under one subscription. | Artists comfortable in an editor who want full manual control over every clip. | Artists who already have footage, or want to cut clips out of existing videos. | Creators and teams who need a general online editor and make lyric videos occasionally. | A single hero lyric video for a release, where a custom, one-of-a-kind look matters most. |
Where each one wins
Reelyrics
A web app that turns one song into many short vertical lyric clips.
Good at
- Built for volume: after the first upload, each extra clip takes a couple of minutes.
- Curated aesthetic b-roll and images are included and picked for you — no hunting for footage.
- Word-level karaoke timing happens automatically.
- Same full-quality file on every plan; no watermark tier.
Trade-offs
- Vertical short-form only. Not the tool for a full-length 16:9 YouTube lyric video.
- No free plan. The way in is $12 for ten, and those are the same Full HD, no-watermark exports every plan gets.
Rotor Videos
An AI video tool for musicians: lyric videos, music videos, Spotify Canvas and more.
Good at
- Covers more formats than lyric clips: Spotify Canvas, Apple Music Album Motion, artwork and music videos.
Trade-offs
- One-off lyric videos are expensive on credits (4 credits at $9.99 each).
- You paste the lyrics yourself rather than having them transcribed from the track.
CapCut
A general-purpose video editor (mobile, desktop and web) with lyric templates and auto-lyrics.
Good at
- Free to start, and the editor can do far more than lyric videos.
- Total control over timing, transitions and footage.
Trade-offs
- Every clip is a manual edit: choosing footage, cutting to the beat and styling text is your job, each time.
- Turning one song into thirty different posts means thirty editing sessions.
LYRC
A lyric video platform for artists that transcribes songs and edits clips into lyric videos.
Good at
- Pulls clips out of YouTube, TikTok and Instagram links, splitting them at scene changes.
Trade-offs
- Its workflow centres on footage you bring or pick: your clips, linked videos, or browsing the stock library.
- Volume costs a subscription; there's no small one-time option.
Kapwing
A browser-based video editor with a lyric video tool and automatic subtitles.
Good at
- A full general-purpose editor in the browser, for any kind of video.
Trade-offs
- Footage is a search: you browse stock and place each clip yourself.
- Free exports are 720p with a watermark.
A freelance editor
Hiring an editor (e.g. on Fiverr) to make a lyric video for you.
Good at
- A human designs something unique around your song.
- No tool to learn; you brief and review.
Trade-offs
- Priced per video, so a daily posting schedule gets expensive fast.
- Turnaround is days, not minutes, and revisions cost rounds.
